Jacob Sheep

Jacob Sheep are a beautiful breed but are not currently considered a rare breed, they were once very rare and thanks to hard work by passionate keepers they are now doing very well. This doesn’t mean we should allow the breed to slip back into rarity so we focus on these in much the same way we do our rare breeds.

Jacob Sheep are white with black patches and can be found with two or four horns. We keep the two horned variety here and breed from our pedigree registered ewes. The Jacob sheep serve a number of purposes as we sell pedigree stock, produce fleece for spinning and with those not suitable for future breeding, we keep them for at least a year to produce hogget. We also have the skins tanned and the horns sent off for stick making, so we really utilise everything this beautiful breed has to offer.
